Episode 7.0: Advance Care Planning

September 6, 2017 2 Comments

Improving the quality of care healthcare providers can deliver at the end-of-life can begin by understanding what excellent end-of-life care would look like for you as an individual person. While it is a topic many people do not want to discuss, if you are able to really sit down and decide how you would like for things to go, it can be one of the biggest gifts you ever give to your family and friends. Advance care planning includes health care, legal, and financial planning of our show tonight focuses on the health care and legal advance care planning options and explains the difference between palliative care and hospice.

In 2015, the Institute of Medicine release a report titled Dying in America: Improving Quality and Honoring Individual Preferences Near End of Life. The report is available online for free and provides perspective on how we are doing as a nation to provide high quality care while honoring individual end-of-life wishes.

Tonight’s Guest include:

  • Lynne Kennedy, PhD, RN, CHPN, CHTN: Clinical Palliative Care Director, Inova Health System
  • Rebecca Geller, Esq. : The Geller Law Firm

Show originally aired on August 28, 2017
