Delegate Sam Rasoul, 11th District of the Virginia General Assembly, discusses the history and evolution of the PACE program in Virginia. Delegate Rasoul became interested in the PACE program while in the role of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for a non-profit healthcare firm. He continues to channel his passion for healthcare reform by supporting more compassionate ways to care for seniors.
One reason Delegate Rasoul supports the PACE program locally and throughout the state of Virginia is the wellness focus of this model of care, and the programs goals of keeping older adults in the community with their families and friends, if nursing home placement can be avoided.
The first PACE program in Virginia was started in 2007 in Virginia Beach, VA. and has grown to 12 PACE sites with care provided by 6 PACE providers.
