Dr. Patrice S. Dupart is the Senior Director of Pharmacy for Inova Fairfax Medical Center overseeing both the inpatient and outpatient pharmacy areas since 2014. She discusses the interdisciplinary initiatives that Inova has put into place to reduce the chance of a medication error from occurring. She explains how Tall Man Lettering, Bar Code cross-check system, Medication History program, and the Transitions of Care program all of which aim to reduce medication errors as patients move through the health system.
Dr. Dupart’s career as a pharmacist spans more than 16 years. She is a respected Pharmacy Leader with experience in pharmacy supply chain and 340B regulations, pharmacy automation, clinical pharmacy, pharmacy research, and hospital pharmacy operations. She is constantly working to advance the role of pharmacy practice focusing on medication safety, diversion and quality improvement measures. She is a strong advocate for pharmacy education and precepts both pharmacy students and residents. She is an active member of organizations such as the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists and is President of the Virginia Society of Health System Pharmacists (Northeast Region).
